Comfort Hotel Cepenhagen Airport is now open! The new landmark building is a monochrome piece, completely clad in aluminum. It’s a social and extrovert building, with open arms welcoming travellers, conference guests and locals. From the skybar you get a unique view of the Oresund region, with views of both Copenhagen, the Airport and Malmö.
The new hotel now is a part of the Nordic hotel group Nordic Choice Hotels and part of the Comfort Hotel chain. It is built in Ellehammersvej alongside the current Hilton hotel and is directly connected to the metro, railway and airport. The building’s architecture is linked to the site’s history as an airport with allusions to hangars, terminals, aircraft and aircraft parts. The propeller-shaped building is cladded in the same kind of aluminum sheet that is used in the aircrafts. Once inside the hotel you can recognize the size of the hangar in the unique conference room whose soft roof shapes give associations to the underside of an aircraft wing. From the hotel it is easy to reach airport terminals.
Our company produced the main façade of the building, which consisted of 1092 elements: 9 670 m2 of unitized façade and 1 700 m2 of stick façade. The 619 rooms are divided between three wings, which are placed ‘floating’ on top of a 3,000 square meter large and column-free conference center. The height of the wings – 12, 12 and 11 storeys respectively – is defined on the basis of the aircraft’s lower approach limit to the airport.
