As the first building in Havneparken Sandnes, the new City Hall set the standard both in terms of architectural quality and environmental ambitions. It accommodate all of the core functions for the municipality and contain meeting rooms for the City Parliament and the Municipal Executive Board, service facilities and workspaces for 350 employees. The 4269 sq. m. site combined with the permitted volume gives the possibilities for 11.000 sq. m. gross area over four floors.

The building meet the passive energy standards. The approved local plan for the area requires that all building are to be able to make use of a district heating system. Apart from this, the building was planned with particular emphasis on environmentally friendly materials, spatial efficiency and the accommodation of public transportation.

The aluminum elements of the building have ceramic finish with 6 different shades and more than 20 different shapes. All 640 items are exclusive. In total KGCG designed, manufactured and installed around 6000 sq. meters of façade constructions.
